Determination of a Rate Law Lab Report

Assurance of a Rate Law Megan Gilleland 10. 11. 2012 Dr. Charles J. Horn Abstract: This two section try is intended to decide the rate law of the accompanying response, 2I-(aq) + H2O2(aq) + 2H+I2(aq) + 2H2O(L), and to then decide whether an adjustment in temperature affects that pace of this response. It was discovered that the response rate=k[I-]^1[H2O2+]^1, and the trial enactment vitality is 60. 62 KJ/mol. Presentation The pace of a compound response frequently relies upon reactant focuses, temperature, and if there’s nearness of a catalyst. The pace of response for this examination can be dictated by breaking down the measure of iodine (I2) shaped. Two substance responses are valuable to deciding the measure of iodine is delivered. 1) I2(aq) + 2S2O32-(aq) 2I-(aq)+S4O62-(aq) 2) I2(aq) + starch Reaction 2 is utilized possibly to decide when the creation of iodine is happening by turning a reasonable dry answer for a blue shading. Without this response it would be extremely ha rd to decide how much iodine is being delivered, because of how rapidly thiosulfate and iodine respond. Related article: Measuring Reaction Rate Using Volume of Gas Produced Lab AnswersHowever this response doesn't decide the measure of iodine created, it possibly decides when/if iodine is available in arrangement. Response 1 is utilized to decide how much iodine is delivered. To see how the rate consistent (k) is temperature reliant, another arrangement of information is recorded in week two’s investigation utilizing six preliminaries and three diverse temperatures(two preliminaries for every temperature change). Utilizing the chart of this information we decide the vitality required to curve of stretch the reactant particles to where bonds can break or structure, and afterward gather items (Activation Energy, Ea).Methods To play out the investigation for week 1, we initially get ready two arrangements, An and B, as appeared in the information. Subsequent to setting up the blends, we combine them in a cup and cautiously watch the arrangement, while timing, to perceive to what e xtent it takes for the answer for change from clear to blue. We utilize this technique for each of the 5 preliminaries, and record the time it takes to change shading, demonstrating the response has occurred completely. This information is utilized to discover p (trials1-3) and q (trials3-5), to use in our rate law. This examination inferred that both p and q are first order. The rate consistent normal of every one of the five preliminaries is utilized as only one point on the Arrhenius Plot. In week 2, we play out the trial to test the connection of temperature to the pace of response. We start by once more, getting ready six arrangements. We arranged two preliminaries/arrangements at 0 degrees Celsius, two and 40 degrees Celsius, and two at 30 degrees Celsius. Once more, for every preliminary we blended arrangement A with B, and deliberately coordinated the response to search for a shading change that demonstrates the response is finished. The translation of this information showed out consequences of whether temperature affects the pace of this reaction.Results-It is resolved that the pace of response is reliant on the temperature in which the response happens. The arrangements saw at 40 degrees Celsius responded at a snappier rate, than those at lesser temperatures, in a direct estate. To Find the Activation Energy we increase by the rate steady of 8. 314J/mol(K), which rises to - 60617. 4 J/mol. We at that point convert this incentive to kilojoules by separating by 1000, rising to 60. 62 kJ/mol. Examination vulnerability Due to the furthest reaches of huge figures in stock arrangements utilized, the subsequent information is constrained in accuracy. Additionally, temperature changes during the examination by even a half degree would cloud the information of the specific rate steady, k. One of our R^2 coefficients for the test was in actuality more noteworthy than 0. , and the other marginally under 0. 9 significance the one lesser isn't viewed as a solid match. The deviation in integrity of fit may have been because of our information recording. Conversation Determination of the rate law and actuation vitality of a synthetic response requires a couple of steps. By differing the groupings of reactants it was resolved that the response is first request as for both [I-] and [H2O2+]. Estimating the response rate at various temperatures permits figuring of the actuation vitality of the procedure, for this situation the initiation vitality of the response is seen as 60. 2 kJ/mol. As you have seen through all the past information, diagrams and charts, this exothermic pace of a response is subject to arrangement fixations, an impetus, and temperature. Business Communication Essay Example for Free (#11)

Business Communication Essay His vision to give youthful, style forward people a remarkable method to communicate their distinction through style brought about a large number of clients worldwide and pushed his plans to the front line of the design business. Everything began in 1990, with a unimportant $1,100 in his ledger, Madden began creating shoe structures from his Queens-based production line and the Steve Maddenâ brand was conceived. With a ton of fortitude, long periods of involvement with the footwear business, and interesting inventive designs, Steve Maddenâ formed his own fruitful undertaking. After a year, Madden presented a reclassified rendition of stage shoes, bringing about one of the most breathtaking examples of overcoming adversity in the mid 1990’s. Propelled by his preferred awesome stars of the 1970s, the thick, stout heel became Steve Madden’sâ signature and a marvel in women’s shoes. Madden’s footwear vision is ceaselessly developing. Steve once stated, â€Å"What moves me is the thing that I see individuals wearing in the city of the world from New York to London and past. I get my thoughts and motivation from looking for some kind of employment everywhere throughout the world. Today, design is directed by singular style. To me, the style of things to come is whatever a youthful person or young lady feels great wearing as long asâ it’s set up in the correct manner. † (www. stevemadden . com) Today, the Steve Maddenâ brand speaks to a way of life. It is tied in with grasping style while as yet keeping up that out of control autonomy that initially characterized the brand 20 years back. Extending now into clothing and different adornments, for example, dresses, satchels, belts, sunwear, chilly climate, outerwear and hosiery, Steve Maddenâ is continually looking toward to what's to come. As 2013 starts, all the more energizing open doors are not too far off including re-bundling, new store structure rollout and development in worldwide markets. The days when the future didn't appear to be so splendid In April 2002, Mr. Rankle found that neither his financial specialists nor government passes judgment on take too sympathetic to even consider stocking control and protections misrepresentation. Steve Madden’s gifts as a shoe planner helped him construct a 240 million dollar domain in his own name. Yet, by his own affirmation, that wasn’t enough †he was voracious for additional. His voracity cost him around 8,000,000 dollars and control of the very organization that brought him such wealth. Infuriate was condemned in 2002 to 41 months in jail for his job in a stock cheat conspire composed by the now-shut business, Stratton Oakmont. His bad behaviors incorporate scheming to control the stock costs of in excess of 20 organizations, including his own. What's more, he did it to the detriment of people in general as well as his own financial specialists who lost in excess of 100 million. Other than paying compensation, Madden needed to leave as CEO of Steve Madden Ltd and leave the governing body. He is likewise banished from holding a situation as official for a long time. In any case, he retained an innovative situation until his jail sentence started that fall and will probably fill that limit upon discharge later this spring. In the mean time, those left to prop the organization up in his nonattendance immediately began their harm control endeavors. Another top managerial staff was immediately gathered. Among those chosen were Madden’s sibling and a corporate bookkeeping master. When their previous pioneer started reimbursing his obligation to society, organization heads started cleaning Steve Madden Limited’s money related house; ensuring stock costs precisely mirrored the strength of the business. The organization completely helped out the SEC’s examination and recruited an autonomous reviewing organization to oversee the procedure. Those days and even today, the company’s budgetary practices are an open and very much kept book. Anybody could get the most recent monetary news from a similar site by loging on to for the most recent shoe plans. Subsequent to taking off any longer potential lawful troubles, the executives started to concentrate on keeping the business itself strolling tall. In the event that the company’s deals reports were any sign, not having â€Å"Steve† hasn’t truly harmed Steve Madden Limited. While the author has been in a Florida jail, the company’s the executives based on his vision by venturing into different regions. â€Å"Steve† by Steve Madden moved the organization from the popular 16 to multi year old segment into upscale footwear for a progressively full grown group. The organization authorized Candie’s and Unionbay footwear for men. As opposed to attempt to supplant or substitute Madden’s configuration eye, they took what they had and acquainted it with new markets. It worked. As per organization reports, about the entirety of the brands have expanded overall revenues and stock levels. In an official statement, the board communicated trust that their benefits would have expanded in 2005 as thought about 2004 (which really occurred). 2. Corporate Communication after the Bad Publicity But jail didn’t break Steve Maddenâ€or his organization. Like such a significant number of today’s big name convicts, from Martha Stewart to Paris Hilton, Madden says he developed a changed individual. He carried out his punishment, doing yardwork, encouraging business classes to different detainees, perusing four books every week (from â€Å"The Devil Wears Prada† to David McCullough’s â€Å"Truman†) and siphoning iron fanatically. I used to wear this tank top in prison,† he says. â€Å"And I’d gaze at myself and flex. I never did that. † He even got hitched, to a Madden worker who desired normal visits. Furthermore, when he was discharged in April 2005, Madden says, he was â€Å"stronger truly, intellectually, spiritually† than he’d ever been. After the arrival of Steve Madden from jail, he chose not to avoid the unavoidable arrival of its namesake organizer from jail. The organization was advancing the arrival of its innovative pioneer in a progression of eye-getting banners and print commercials, and is having a ton of fun with it simultaneously. While the advertisements don't state where Madden has been, one recommends, in a wink-wink sort of way, that Mr. Irritate has not been on a holiday, a mystery strategic up the Amazon collecting snakes: â€Å"A new significance for the word spring time. Steve returns. Spring 2005. † The organization had propelled a somewhat intriguing press battle observing Steve Madden’s forthcoming discharge from jail. One highlights a young lady wearing a lower leg arm band and another highlights an unfilled pair of shoes with the words, â€Å"There’s one sets of shoes that’s been difficult to fill. Steve returns Spring 2005. Others imply Madden getting â€Å"sprung† in Spring 2005. Budgetary Dynamics, the shoe retailer’s financial specialist relations organization, says the battle is a positive method of managing the jail sentence. It downplays the company’s inconveniences, communicating something specific that the board is over it and clients should feel a similar way. It’s likewise a definite fire approach to get individuals discussing the brand. With regards to deals, the main awful exposure is no exposure. Sometime in the distant past, an organization, especially one that offered items to general society, would disregard exposure in the event that it could when a senior official experienced lawful misfortunes. The possibility that an organization †particularly one like Steve Madden, which sells shoes generally to high school young ladies and ladies in their 20’s †would really run advertisements pointing out its leader’s jail past would have floored specialists in fields like brand personality, publicizing and advertising. â€Å"I love discussion; I love testing existing known limits, however when you have a more youthful client you have an obligation to take the law and authority seriously,† said James LaForce, accomplice at LaForce and Stevens in New York, a showcasing interchanges office spend significant time in style and diversion customers. That was obviously before Martha Stewart, whose open picture has, by starting measures, apparently picked up in height after her discharge from government jail. A brilliant paper fold embellished with a photo of her supporting a chicken, pronouncing â€Å"Welcome home, Martha,† was joined to the front of April’s Martha Stewart Living magazine, distributed by Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. Organizations like Mr. Madden’s and Ms. Stewart’s may likewise be bound to grasp their sentenced administrators, since those officials have a lot of impact in the meeting room. Hesitance about an executive’s past likewise originates before a world where rappers can discover the deals of their music expanding in appearing lock step with the seriousness of their scratches with the law. â€Å"It’s in now to be out, out of jail, that is,† said Paul Cappelli, CEO at the Ad Store in New York, a publicizing office that makes crusades for brands like JetBlue. â€Å"I could see myself recommending something like this to a client,† Cappelli stated, â€Å"that as opposed to overlooking the 5,000-pound elephant in the corner, you should bring it out beyond all detectable inhibitions and take advantage of it. Robert Passikoff, who has been following buyer reaction to the Martha Stewart brand as leader of Brand Keys in New York, a brand and client unwaveringness specialist, said that his file of its worth had as of late risen. The file has move to 96, Mr. Passikoff stated, contrasted and a base of 62 †â€Å"lower than Enron,† he said †before she entered jail. (The pinnacle was 122 in May 2002. ) Is the new symbol of respect, I served my time? We don't know it doesn’t at last hurt, regardless of whether the American open is to a great extent pardoning when individuals serve their time. The battle is attempting to make him the essence of the brand yet who needs the face with numbers under it? † Steve Madden is unique in relation to Martha Stewart, in light of the fact that dissimilar to her, he was never the brand. He was the name

Maquiladoras Essays - Economy Of Mexico, International Trade

Maquiladoras What job does maquiladora play in the improvement of a nation? Why would that be marvel seen as another stage in industrialist improvement? Is this a sensible guarantee? The job that the maquila plays in the advancement of a nation is an intriguing point to examine. To comprehend the job that maquiladoras play, one should initially increase a comprehension of the first motivation behind the maquila. At that point, by considering the advancement of the maquiladora to a major assembling base, one may have a superior comprehension of how this kind of firm may prompt the improvement of the host nation. In the principal area, I will examine the start and improvement of the maquiladoras. In segment two, I will give the assessments of certain market analysts and their bits of knowledge with regards to how the maquiladora has influenced creating nations. The third area manages free enterprise and how maquiladoras assume a job in the improvement of an entrepreneur economy. In segment four, I will examine my conclusions on the contentions that I have introduced. The last area will incorporate some closing comments. Presently, let us acquaint ourselves with the maquiladora. Maquiladora is gotten from the Spanish action word maquilar, which intends to process wheat into flour. Ranchers would plant wheat into parts and afterward give a segment to the mill operator; this bit was called a maquila. As time passed, the word maquila became related with assembling, gathering and bundling forms that were done by somebody that was not the first maker. In the present financial world, the wordmaquiladora represents an extraordinary kind of organization in Mexico (Maquila Diagram 1). The part that makes the maquiladora not the same as some other fabricating plant is that they are permitted to import crude materials, hardware, what's more, parts required for get together, and send out the completed great to the United States on an obligation free premise (Maquilas 1). The main maquiladoras were worked in 1966 in Baja California and Cuidad Juarez (United States firms built up with the backing of the Mexican government). The Border Industrialization Program made these organizations so as to channel the inexhaustible work source in the outskirt regions of Mexico and the United States facilitated commerce zone (Maquila Overview 1). The unique motivation behind the maquiladoras was to utilize all the jobless individuals who dwelled on the Mexican side of the fringe and furthermore to expand Mexican fares. The United States considered these to be as an opportunity to exploit the modest cost of work, the absence of Mexican work and ecological guidelines and guidelines, and hardly any obligations (Maquilas 1). The United States duty plans take into consideration the gathering of United States-made merchandise outside of the nation and at that point, the arrival of the last item to the United States with obligation just paid on the worth added to the great. There are two segments under the levy plans that consider modern activities under the maquiladora program: Thing # 9802.00.60 and 9802.00.80 (were 806.3 and 807.0) that expresses that the estimation of parts made in the United States are not dependent upon obligation when further prepared or collected abroad and came back to the United States. Thing # 9802.00.60 arrangements with metal preparing Item#9802.00.80 manages get together (Alvarez 1). Presently, maquiladoras are not just situated on the fringe of Mexico and the United States, however everywhere throughout the nation. The maquiladora would now be able to sell a segment of the products delivered in the household advertise on installment of import obligations furthermore, burdens on the imported materials (Maquila Overview 1). The maquila business would not be here today without outside venture. Numerous remote organizations in the United States, Japan, and Canada have exploited modest Mexican work what's more, the area of the Export Processing Zones and constructed fabricating organizations in Mexico. These organizations are normally completely possessed by remote speculators. These organizations are presumably the best piece of Mexico's economy. The development of this industry has been consistently expanding over the a long time, creating more remote trade than oil or the travel industry (Maquila Overview 2). In general, the maquiladora business is by all accounts a decent method to increment efficiency, utilize the jobless and make motivation for remote venture. In any case, changing suppositions exist among market analysts and some observe the maquila industry as dangerous, and at last thwarting to the general advancement of the host nation. Part 1, The Maquilas in Global Perspective expresses that the renewal of private enterprise denotes the following stage in the relations of prevailing powers with Third World Countries. Private enterprise is the detachment of economy and state. It is the social framework wherein the methods

An Introduction to Medical Anthropology

Medical anthropology is a field of anthropology focused  on the relationship between health, illness, and culture. Beliefs and practices about health vary across different cultures and are influenced by social, religious, political, historical, and economic factors. Medical anthropologists use anthropological theories and methods to generate unique insights into how different cultural groups around the world experience, interpret, and respond to questions of health, illness, and wellness. Medical anthropologists study a wide array of topics. Specific questions include: How does a particular culture define health or illness? How might a diagnosis or condition be interpreted by different cultures? What are the roles of doctors, shamans, or alternative health practitioners? Why do certain groups experience better or worse health outcomes, or higher prevalence of certain diseases? What is the connect between health, happiness, and stress? How are different conditions stigmatized or even celebrated in specific cultural contexts? In addition, medical anthropologists study the factors that affect or are affected by the distribution of illness, and are also closely attuned to questions of inequality, power, and health. History of the Field Medical anthropology emerged as a formal area of study in the mid-20th  century. Its roots are in cultural anthropology, and it extends that subfield’s focus on social and cultural worlds to topics relating specifically to health, illness, and wellness. Like cultural anthropologists, medical anthropologists typically use ethnography – or ethnographic methods – to conduct research and gather data. Ethnography is a qualitative research method that involves full immersion in the community being studied. The ethnographer (i.e., the anthropologist) lives, works, and observes daily life in this distinctive cultural space, which is called the field site. Medical anthropology grew increasingly important after World War II, when anthropologists began to formalize the process of applying ethnographic methods and theories to questions of health around the world. This was a time of widespread international development and humanitarian efforts aimed at bringing modern technologies and resources to countries in the global South. Anthropologists proved particularly useful for health-based initiatives, using their unique skills of cultural analysis to help develop programs tailored to local practices and belief systems. Specific campaigns focused on sanitation, infectious disease control, and nutrition. Key Concepts and Methods Medical anthropology’s approach to ethnography has changed since the field’s early days, thanks in large part to the growth of globalization and the emergence of new communication technologies. While the popular image of anthropologists involves living in remote villages in far-off lands, contemporary anthropologists conduct research in a variety of field sites ranging from urban centers to rural hamlets, and even in social media communities. Some also incorporate quantitative data into their ethnographic work. Some anthropologists now design multi-sited studies, for which they conduct ethnographic fieldwork in different field sites. These might include comparative studies of health care in rural versus urban spaces in the same country, or combine traditional in-person fieldwork living in a particular place with digital research of social media communities. Some anthropologists even work in multiple countries around the world for a single project. Together, these new possibilities for fieldwork and field sites have broadened the scope of anthropological research, enabling scholars to better study life in a globalized world. Medical anthropologists use their evolving methodologies to examine key concepts, including: Health disparities: the differences in the distribution of health outcomes or disease prevalence across groupsGlobal health: the study of health across the globeEthnomedicine:  the comparative study of traditional medicine practices in different culturesCultural relativism:  the theory that all cultures must be considered on their own terms, not as superior or inferior to others. What Do Medical Anthropologists Study? Medical anthropologists work to solve a variety of problems. For instance, some researchers focus on health equity and health disparities, trying to explain why certain communities have better or worse health outcomes than others. Others might ask how a particular health condition, such as Alzheimer’s or schizophrenia, is experienced in localized contexts around the globe. Medical anthropologists can be divided into two general groups: academic and applied. Academic medical anthropologists work within university systems, specializing  in research, writing, and/or teaching. In contrast, applied medical anthropologists often work outside of university settings. They can be found in hospitals, medical schools, public health programs, and in nonprofit or international non-governmental organizations. While academic anthropologists often have more open-ended research agendas, applied practitioners are typically part of a team trying to solve or generate insights into a specific problem or question. Today, key research areas include  medical technologies, genetics and genomics, bioethics, disability studies, health tourism, gender-based violence, infectious disease  outbreaks, substance abuse, and more. Ethical Considerations Both academic and applied anthropologists face similar ethical considerations, which are typically overseen by their universities, funders, or other governing organizations. Institutional review boards were established in the U.S. in the 1970s to ensure ethical compliance for research involving human subjects, which includes most ethnographic projects. Key ethical considerations for medical anthropologists are: Informed consent:  ensuring that research subjects are aware of any risks and consent to participate in the study.Privacy: protecting participants health status, image or likeness, and private information  Confidentiality:  protecting the anonymity (if desired) of a research subject, often by using pseudonymous names for participants and field site locations Medical Anthropology Today The most well-known anthropologist today is Paul Farmer. A physician and an anthropologist, Dr. Farmer teaches at Harvard University and has received widespread acclaim for his work in global health. Other key figures in medical anthropology include Nancy Scheper-Hughes, Arthur Kleinman, Margaret Lock, Byron Good, and Rayna Rapp. The Society for Medical Anthropology is the primary professional organization for medical anthropologists in North America, and is affiliated with the American Anthropological Association. There are scholarly journals devoted solely to medical anthropology, such as Medical Anthropology Quarterly, Medical Anthropology, and the online journal  Medicine Anthropology Theory.  Somatosphere.net  is a popular blog focusing on medical anthropology and related disciplines.  Ã‚   Medical Anthropology Key Takeaways Medical anthropology is a branch of anthropology focused on the relationship between health, illness, and culture.Medical anthropologists can be divided into two key fields: applied and academic. While medical anthropologists study a wide range of issues and topics, key concepts include health disparities, global health, medical technologies, and bioethics. Philip Anderson - 885 Words

In this case, we have really two different points of view: in one side, there is Philip Anderson, the Phoenix branch manager of Stuart Co., who manages a team with his ways, his idea, his experience but the results do not reach the targets fixed by the firm. In the other side, there is the direction of Stuart Co., which has opposite ideas to Philip Anderson. I will try to analyze the challenges Philip Anderson faces from the point of view of costs of control and considering ethical concerns. Reading this text, we could easily feel that Philip Anderson’s work way is totally opposite to the firm way. The sentence â€Å"how far he [Philip Anderson] could bend without breaking† shows the challenge of the alone man is important for him.†¦show more content†¦This last characteristic is one of the reason for which he is in a delicate situation with the branch. In fact, Philip Anderson and his team do not reach the targets in term of budget but develop a lot of relationships based on â€Å"ethical dilemmas†. When he sells the products or the services, he tries to satisfy both the highest profit for Stuart Co. and the highest returns to the client. There is a famous proverb which says â€Å"the costumer is king† that implies, the firm must be attentive to the customer’s expectations. Philip tries to find a compromise between both but the firm prefers establish long-term relationship just in the company’s interest even if it acts unethically. Moreover, this kind of conflict between Philip Anderson and Stuart Co. is a proof that it is difficult to establish a cost control respecting ethical concerns. Indeed, to realize a cost control management, a firm has to fixed budget targets but these objectives have to be possible and controllable. Perhaps in this case, the objectives fixed for Philip are too difficult if the manager want to respect some virtues during the selling. For its success, an enterprise has to realize a good turnover but this turnover is good only if there are some customers that is why cost control is as important as ethical issues. With its thinking way, the branch of this firm does not keep the focus on its manager (Philip Anderson) and on its customers. Great Gatsby - the Green Light - 1560 Words

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald deals on one level with Jay Gatsby’s hopes and dreams, but on a deeper level also deals with the Great American Dream. The novel starts and ends with a reference to the green light at the end of the dock, indicating an important symbolism. The first time Nick catches sight of Jay Gatsby, Gatsby â€Å"stretched his arms towards the dark water [†¦] [Nick] distinguished nothing except a single green light [†¦] that might have been at the end of a dock.† (Fitzgerald 2000:25). Fitzgerald ends the novel by again referring to the â€Å"green light at the end of Daisy’s dock.† (171). The protagonist of the novel is Jay Gatsby, a wealthy young man from the Midwest, who has moved to the New York in the East to pursue his†¦show more content†¦The green light at the end of Daisy’s dock also symbolises the inability to control time, the irretrievability of the past and the futility of trying to recreate the past, despite Gatsby’s belief to the contrary. When Nick asserts that one can’t repeat the past, he exclaims: â€Å"Can’t repeat the past? [†¦] Why of course you can!† (106). Gatsby naively believes that Daisy can erase the past by simply telling Tom that she never loved him. He tells Nick that â€Å"[he’s] going to fix everything the way it was before† (106) and that he and Daisy would â€Å"be married from her house – just as if it were five years ago.† (106). The similarity between Gatsby’s dream and the Great American dream is a central theme of the novel. People pursue their dreams, regardless of the cost to themselves and others, with little regard for the attainability and reality of the dream. In Gatsby’s case, his dream eventually costs him his life. Similarly, the singleminded pursuit of wealth and pleasure eventually costs people their lives, if not in the literal sense, then in the moral sense. BIBLIOGRAPHY Fitzgerald, F.S. 1926 (rpt. 2000). Dress Code Essay Example For Students

Dress Code Essay Dress Code Essay has been the biggest topic between the Board officials and parents. There have been many decisions and arguments that were worked out by administration and local school, often at the request of parents. There should be a dress code for students for several reasons. Many public schools today are making dangerous decisions and these decisions may end up saving someones life. The decisions are about school uniforms and dress codes. Public schools are beginning to open their eyes to the real world and see what their students are wearing and what the clothes are about. Some schools have banned any clothes with inappropriate symbols or sayings. Baggy wear is very dangerous. Schools are now even taking away the privilege of those clothes for the reason that weapons and other dangerous, illegal items may be smuggled in under loose pants, hats, shirts and jackets. The cost of maintaining a stylish wardrobe can be expensive. Many families have more important things to spend their money on than the image of school children. The dress code may be a way to keep the costs of school down for those families. In some schools, there has even been fighting or stealing based on expensive sneakers or jewelry. There are many clothes in fashion for boys and girls which are not appropriate for school dress. Good taste and common sense should dictate parental and student choice of school clothes. The school will determine what is not appropriate dress, even if it conforms to current fashion. Also, school dress should not be viewed as a daily fashion show. In this essay I had many compelling reason why there should be dress codes for students. I think that schools should have dress codes because it they can help people save money on other clothes such as brand name clothes, theses clothes can be very expensive and many kids steal them. Baggy clothes are very dangerous because students can carry guns or other illegal items into the schools. Many people are discriminated by what they wear but dress code doesnt discriminate anyone. Some clothes are not appropriate for schools, such as clothes that have inappropriate symbols or sayings. .

Launching Instant Coffee in Indian Market

Introduction Since ages Indians have been more inclined towards tea rather than coffee. As such, marketing coffee in India can be a tough job. But owing to the marketing strategies of companies like Starbucks, a trend of coffee drinking has started picking up, especially among the younger generation.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Launching Instant Coffee in Indian Market specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More There are certain local companies also that manufacture coffee. But the quality of such brands is not up to the mark and moreover, the target customers of such companies are the middle class customers. Middle class people include the small business people, professionals. Even the canteens in colleges and universities serve these brands of coffee. It should be understood that the market trends differ from country to country. India is a developing country and as such, the people are not accustomed to the tradition s of the Western countries. The existing managerial literature proves that the marketing strategies available for internalization are not basically the same across cultures (Cayla Arnould, 2008). But as studies and surveys show that India is fast catching up with the Western culture, it is expected that the coffee culture will also soon be prevalent among the people. This report analyzes and justifies a marketing plan for the introduction of instant coffee into the Indian market. The paper also outlines the possible drawbacks and the means to overcome them. The following flow chart demonstrates the graphical representation of the marketing plan. Figure 1: Marketing Plan (McDonald Keegan, 2002) In this report, we shall analyse the performance of coffee in the Indian market using SWOT and PESTEL analysing methods.Advertising Looking for essay on business economics? One of the most commonly used tool for analysing the market of any product is PESTEL. It means the Political, Economical, Social, Technological, Environmental and Legal aspects that may affect any business. Figure 1: PESTEL Analysis Economic India is currently the fifth largest economy in purchasing power parity, not mentioning its growing middle class and youth with more disposable income (Johnson Tellis, 2008). Since the target customers are the youth, the probability of success of instant coffee in India is high. Political India is a huge democratic country and the government is engaged in the welfare of its citizens through various economic policies. The infrastructure system of India is becoming better day by day. These factors can be of advantage to any new company that wants to start its operations in India. Technological India is a fast developing country and as such, the modern t echnological inventions are being adopted in all spheres of life. Social-cultural The new company may experience uncertainty avoidance from local consumers due to the predominantly Indian tea-drinking culture. The company may also face a cultural distance between its own marketing strategies and those of its partners in joint ventures (Heerden Barter, 2008). The enormous diversity of India, which is typified by inconsistent policies and social-economic inequalities, may also serve as a hindrance (Johnson Tellis, 2008).Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Launching Instant Coffee in Indian Market specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Legal India has stringent policies regarding foreign-owned businesses. There are certain rules to be followed and taxes are imposed on foreign products. Environmental There are many social groups in India that are engaged in the preservation of the environment against pollution. These groups stage protests against companies that are responsible for any kind of pollution. If the new company has to face such protests, it will tarnish its image. It should be the prime concern of the company to adhere to the non-pollution policy. Market trends: â€Å"†¦the market for coffee in India has been growing steadily as consumers are becoming more acceptable towards international and premium brands† (BusinessWire, 2011). Internal Audit This kind of audit is done on variables than can be controlled by the organization Current Market Position The current market position of the company will have a great impact on its venture in India. It is a human tendency or psychology to go after the renowned ones. Target Market Traditional target market for the new company includes the â€Å"affluent, well-educated, white collar customers† between the ages of 25 and 44. As the companies expand internationally, an emergent target market consists of the â€Å"younger, less well-educated customers in a lower income bracket† (Moon Quelch, 2003). SWOT Analysis Advertising Looking for essay on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Strengths Analysis Coffee is a habit in the Western culture. Since India is a developing country and the people are fast accepting the foreign products, the company can take advantage of the good opportunity for entering the rapidly growing instant coffee market in India. Weaknesses Analysis The company is yet to make inroads into the Indian tea-drinking culture and it is expected that it may meet challenges trying to establish itself (Johnson Tellis, 2008). The company may suffer great financial losses if the U.S. retail stores under perform because of harsh economic conditions or intense competition. Opportunities Analysis The company can enter into brand-franchising agreements with other partners in emerging markets to boost its sales, reputation and competitiveness (Johnson Tellis, 2008). Threats Analysis a) Highly competitive market The main competitors of the company in India are Cafe Coffee Day and Barista. b) Socio-political Groups There are certain social and political gr oups that are opposed to foreign products. Even though the number of such groups is limited, they can create unnecessary nuisance. Assumptions Assumptions are critical in any marketing plan as they function to standardize the planning environment (McDonald Keegan, 2002). This plan assumes that instant coffee will achieve a market segment of 10 percent before December 2012 as the company engages more partners and franchises in the Indian market. Price competition for the instant coffee market in India will force price levels down by 15% across the board. Marketing Objectives Strategies Marketing Objectives The marketing objective of the company should be to create a rare coffee experience that will make customers in India to visit established outlets for the coffee, stay for the striking environment, and return for the connection. It should be the policy of the company to build an image and reputation separate from competitors aimed at creating brand loyalty. Marketing Strategies V enkatesh notes that â€Å"†¦market segmentation is a strategy in which a large heterogeneous market is broken down into small homogenous segments and a separate marketing program is developed for each segment† (Venkatesh, 2011). The market segment selected for instant coffee is the high-end consumer segment and the strategy used will be price discrimination. Estimation of Expected Results It is expected that the introduction of instant coffee into the Indian market will assist the company to rapidly expand its retail operations and increase growth in its speciality sales and other operations. It is also expected that customers will achieve higher satisfaction levels. Identification of Alternative Plans and Mixes Alternative Plan Based on initial sales of instant coffee, the company may decide to introduce a new instant coffee product to target the middle class. Sheth observes that â€Å"the new middle class, especially in large population markets in China and India, is creating large-scale first-time buyers of everything† (Sheth, 2011). Marketing Mix for Instant Coffee a) Product The product – instant coffee – falls under the category of convenience products since it can be purchased from selected retail outlets and supermarkets. It lacks the signature bitterness and darker-roast temperament of brewed coffee, thus is seen as an excellent choice to compete in traditional tea-drinking cultures such as India (Business Pundit, n.d.). b) Price Instant coffee will be marketed to the higher-end consumer bracket, thus will be retailed at a premium price. The company wishes to use the high price tag to demonstrate the high value of the product and its commitment to adequately satisfy customer needs and demands. Chan et al are of the opinion that an effective price discrimination strategy communicates the unique value of a particular product to the customers (Chan et al, 2010). c) Place The place where a product first premiered and the d istribution networks that exist to ensure the product is adequately restocked are critical success factors for any internalization exercise (Chandrasekaran Tellis, 2008). Instant coffee is set to premier in the cities of Mumbai and New Delhi due to their affluent upper class and high population rates. Promotion Promotional activities are critical in exposing the product to the local audience and in targeting marketing communications with the view to elicit positive responses from the targeted audience (Narayan Manchanda, 2009). The company’s promotional activities will revolve around the word of mouth. Budget Marketing and other related activities are costly and, as such, organizations intending to launch new products into global markets must prepare adequately if they are to succeed in their endeavours. The company should allocate a fixed budget for the launch and promotional activities in India. First Year Implementation Programme The company will embark on partnering w ith local enterprises that share in the values and commitments of the company. The product will be initially introduced into two of such partnerships in Mumbai and New Delhi to evaluate uptake before comprehensive roll-out strategy into other major cities across India is kicked off in 2012. Although TV commercials will be aired in mainstream channels to introduce the new product, the main promotional strategy will be through word of mouth. A Market research survey will be done in September 2012 to assess customer attitudes and market share. Conclusion Studies demonstrate that most organizations target to enter international markets not only to exploit their existing competitive advantages but also to sustain and develop their strategic positioning. Other factors, such as profits and growth targets, international market opportunities, economies of scale, intense competition in traditional markets, saturated existing market and proximity to global consumers, may also account. With the introduction of instant coffee into the mainstream Indian market, the company will not only be aiming to enhance its competitiveness but also its strategic positioning. It may take some time but if the company adheres to all the parameters mentioned in this paper, success is sure to be achieved. References Cayla, J. Arnould, E.J. (2008). The History of the Lands across the Atlantic 1440 1820 Research Paper

The History of the Lands across the Atlantic 1440 1820 - Research Paper Example The Portuguese chronicler, Azarura identifies that there were nearly 1,000 African slaves in Portugal by 1446. He was the head of the royal library. In his account of events in The Chronicle of the Discovery and Conquest of Guinea, he gave a vivid account of the separation of African slaves from their families during one of such journeys. He said of the Africans: â€Å"faces bathed in tears †¦ others stuck their faces with the palms of their hand, throwing themselves upon the ground† However, this kind of activity was not seen as cruelty. Rather, the Portuguese saw it as an opportunity to 'civilize' the Africans and introduce them to Christianity. The Portuguese government-sponsored explorations of new lands across Africa. This was done through a school of navigators that was funded by the Royal government of Portugal. Also, there were private interests because the Portuguese Crown promised the monopoly and control of new lands discovered by private sailors to the individ uals who found them. Some of the notables were Prince Henry the Navigator. The main commodities the Portuguese sailors sought was ivory, gold, spices, and slaves. Prince Henry, who was a notable royal and sailor explored the African coastline as far as Senegal and Sierra Leone by 1460. In 1469, Fernando Gomes discovered the island of Sao Tome which is 350 miles away from the African coast. In 1471, the Portuguese landed in Elmina, now part of Ghana. They moved further to the Benin Kingdom which is now a part of Nigeria.

Water Desalination using Vacuum Membrane Distillation Essay

Water Desalination using Vacuum Membrane Distillation - Essay Example Of course, it can also be used for water desalination [5]. Vapor migrates from the membrane surface to the permeate side. How this process occurs varies with the different configurations, depending on the feed solution which is treated [3, 11, 16]. All the configurations have advantages and disadvantages, depending on their applications. In Direct Contact Membrane Distillation, for instance, the membrane is in direct contact with the water only during liquid phases. According to classical heat transfer theory, a thermal boundary is formed when liquid is in direct contact with a solid surface when their temperatures differ. This thermal boundary stays next to the solid surface, where the liquid exhibits its temperature fluctuations. The process of heat and mass transfer illustrates the membrane distillation process, wherein a microporous membrane separates two fluids of differing temperatures (membrane thickness of). The feed temperature decreases from at its bulk to at the membrane’s surface. Accordingly, the permeate temperature increases from at its bulk to at the membrane’s surface. Two thermal boundary layers appear at the feed side (with the thickness of) and the permeate side (with the thickness of) of the membrane respectively, as shown in Fig. 3. where is the mass transfer flux through the membrane and is the latent heat of the volatile component. Here, is only a small part of the energy transferred through the membrane in the form of latent heat. The temperature difference between the two sides of the membrane also conducts heat through the membrane and the gas that fills the pores with flux, written as The equation illustrates the temperature difference between the two sides of the hydrophobic membrane. Accounting for the vapor pressure difference is illustrated by, which is the driving force for mass transfer through the membrane. Three mechanisms regulate the mass transfer through the membrane: The mass transfer mechanism
